On January 3, 1868, a
celebration was held to honor the emancipation proclamation which outlawed
slavery in the United States. This was the beginning of many celebrations
by Oregonians, both black and white to honor the change in race relations. 2/5
On Friday, February 21st, there will
be a field trip to Chemeketa Community College for members of the senior
class. This field trip is designed to assist any senior planning to
attend Chemeketa in the Fall. To sign up, please visit Ms. Dunn in the
College & Career Center. The deadline to sign up for the field trip
is Wednesday, Feb. 19th.

Athletes: There will be an important
informational meeting after school in the weight room today starting at
2:30pm. Winter sport athletes who are interested in being on the team,
please plan on attending as well. The meeting will be over before
your practice starts. See Coach Charles for more information. 2/5

entry into the YOUNG ARTISTS’ SHOWCASE at the Salem Art Association’ Bush Barn
Gallery. It’s FREE to enter. Please see any of the Sprague art teachers for
complete details and an entry form. Deadline to reserve space is Friday Feb.

The Asian Alliance Club will be having a meeting this Thursday at lunch in
Mr. Allen’s room #145. We will learn a little about Chinese New Year and take a
look at the 12 Zodiacs. The Thai Cuisine
of Salem restaurant is providing dishes of pad thai, mussaman curry, stir fry
