Sprague Track and Field started their season with a meet yesterday vs. West Salem and Monroe.  Congratulations to the team as a whole for competing hard against good competition.  Individual winners were Elise Abbott in the 800 and 1500 meters, Jacob Luna in the Discus and Carter Cook in the High Jump.  A special Thank you to all of the volunteers who came and helped us run the meet like Coach Minyard, Ms. Atkinson, Ms. Barthel, Mr. Rodin, Mrs. Kleinman, Mr. Putnam, Ms. Sorensen and the numerous parents. Please join us for our next home meet on April 10th.

The 18th Annual You Lead Oregon African American Youth Conference will be Friday, April 12th at Western Oregon University.  The AAYLC is geared toward middle and high school students, especially those with African or African-American heritage. There are several local scholarships available for members of graduating class of 2019.   For example, the LKS Educational Scholarship is open to any student planning to attend a 2 year, 4 year or trade school. The scholarship is valued at $20,000.  Paper copies will be available starting Monday, March 18th.  For more information, please see Ms. Dunn.

The Career Connections Fair is an opportunity for students to practice job interviewing skills, interact with volunteers from the business community, have their résumés critiqued, and learn about options after graduation; some students even come away from the event with job offers.  Students will need to have a resume and dress professionally while participating in this event on Tuesday, April 2nd.  This is event is open to any Sprague student in grades 10 thru 12.   Please see Ms. Dunn to sign up.  The deadline is Monday, March 18th. 3/15

Congratulations to the girls tennis team for their win over Wilsonville 5-3 yesterday. Eva Hammond won 1st singles, Alexis Murphy won 2nd singles, Olivia Decker won 3rd singles, Paige Schmelling won 4th singles, and Izzy Altman and Eillie Horn won 1st doubles.

Prom Tickets are now on sale! Prom is April 26, 2019 at Zenith Vineyard, 8:00-11:00 pm. To buy a ticket: student must be a Junior or Senior, have no outstanding fines and you must turn in a completed SKSD Dance agreement at the time of purchase for each student attending.  Guests have to be approved so get your guest pass form in the main office. Tickets are $35 Single and $60 for Couple. If you buy your ticket in the month of March it is $30 Single and $50 Couple. Tickets can be purchased from the Bookkeeper during lunch and after school.

The Sprague girls’ golf team started the season yesterday at Santiam Golf Course. Quincy Beyrouty finished 2nd and Reese Sherwood was close behind in 3rd. Jasmin Gimmer was tied for 8th and Chloe Elmore tied for 11th. Way to start the season strong!

Congratulations to Kendall Hahn for winning the National Cheerleaders Association Battle in the Arena Tumbling National Championship!   The competition was held in Dallas, Texas and this is her second year in a row for being a national champion!  Congratulations Kendall!

Sprague artists dominate once again. In the 2019 Cherriots Poster Contest, out of six possible winners, we have five! Placements will be announced at an official presentation by Cherriots that will take place at an upcoming assembly. This year’s theme was “world car-free day.” The winning artists are: Samantha Breen, Ayla Brown, Raquel Coburn, Chloe Elmore, Mei Tate. 3/7

Congratulations to the Sprague Olyannes Dance Team! They successfully competed at Liberty High School in Hillsboro on Saturday, March 2 by placing third out of seven teams in a very competitive Show division. Their next competition will be the OSAA State Dance Team Championships on Saturday, March 16 at the Memorial Coliseum in Portland.
