Salem's Black History: Before school integration ended in the 1950s, the black citizens of Salem, Oregon provided a school for their children so that they could be educated.  This school remained until 1905.  Black citizens across the nation supported education for their children which had been prohibited under slavery. 

On Friday, February 21st, there will be a field trip to Chemeketa Community College for members of the senior class.  This field trip is designed to assist any senior planning to attend Chemeketa in the Fall.  To sign up, please visit Ms. Dunn in the College & Career Center.  The deadline to sign up for the field trip is Wednesday, Feb. 19th.   2/18

All art students are invited to submit one entry into the YOUNG ARTISTS’ SHOWCASE at the Salem Art Association’ Bush Barn Gallery. It’s FREE to enter. Please see any of the Sprague art teachers for complete details and an entry form. Deadline to reserve space is Friday Feb. 14. 2/13

The Asian Alliance Club will be having a meeting this Thursday at lunch in Mr. Allen’s room #145. We will learn a little about Chinese New Year and take a look at the 12 Zodiacs.  The Thai Cuisine of Salem restaurant is providing dishes of pad thai, mussaman curry, stir fry and noodles.  Come join us! 2/6
