Salem's Black History: In the pioneer cemetery on Rural Street is buried Reverend Obed Dickenson.  He was a friend of blacks and preached that the citizens of Salem should treat them as equals.   He was persecuted for his beliefs but remained a steadfast friend to Salem’s black community.

On Friday, February 21st, there will be a field trip to Chemeketa Community College for members of the senior class.  This field trip is designed to assist any senior planning to attend Chemeketa in the Fall.  To sign up, please visit Ms. Dunn in the College & Career Center.  The deadline to sign up for the field trip is Wednesday, Feb. 19th.   2/18

All art students are invited to submit one entry into the YOUNG ARTISTS’ SHOWCASE at the Salem Art Association’ Bush Barn Gallery. It’s FREE to enter. Please see any of the Sprague art teachers for complete details and an entry form. Deadline to reserve space is Friday Feb. 14. 2/13

This week is National School Counselor Appreciation Week, dedicated to highlighting the work our School Counselors do on behalf of students.  Shout out to our fabulous Sprague counselors Mrs. Crandall, Mrs. Fillion, Mrs. Hagner, Mrs. Stanaway, and Mr. Sturgis!  Be sure to say thank you when you see them this week! 2/7
