Books
are not the only items threatened with censorship. According to the
American Library Association there where 354 challenges in 2017: 67
percent were books, 18 percent were magazines, films and games. 7 percent were
programs, and 8 percent were displays or other. This week, take some time
to explore all the areas that are facing censorship. Think about your
first amendment rights and what it means to have access to a wide variety of
materials.
Students: If you are interest in serving on
the District’s Equity Student Advisory Committee, please see Mr. Swanson or
Natalie Dunn in the College and Career Center. 9/27
