Oregon’s most celebrated rodeo, the Pendleton Round-Up, began in 1910 and included African American competitors from the beginning. The Round-Up’s most famous black rider, George Fletcher, was born in the Midwest, but he moved to Pendleton as a young man, learning from horsemen on the nearby Umatilla Indian Reservation. 

The Chemeketa Scholars Application drop off field trip starts Monday March 9th.   Each day that week, a bus will travel to Chemeketa Community college for students to submit their applications.  If you are interested in participating in this field trip, please see Ms. Dunn for more information. 2/28

Sprague!  Key Club is running our annual Thousand Soles shoe drive from February 18th through March 3rd.  Please bring in new or gently used shoes and place them in the boxes which will be located around campus.  Do something kind for others in your community who may be in need.  If you are curious, or want to volunteer, please see Ms. Harris in room 116.

Athletes, this is your final week to get your athletic registrations completed and your sport physicals turned in if you are planning to participate in a spring sport. Monday will be the first official day of practice and tryouts. Team lists will go out to coaches Friday after school with the names of eligible athletes who can tryout on Monday.

Avoid the lines and purchase your Glow Dance tickets NOW.  Deadline to purchase tickets is March 6th.  All outstanding fees and fines must be paid in full to purchase dance tickets.  Glow Dance forms and procedures are on the Sprague Website and in the Main Office.  2/28

Congratulations to the 25 members of the graduating class of 2020 for completing the requirements to attend Chemeketa Community College. If you are interested in attending Chemeketa Community College, please contact Ms. Dunn. 2/26

The Oregon Promise program provides funds to any graduating senior carrying a 2.50 unweighted GPA by June 1st of this year.   The student will need to select a community college in the state of Oregon to receive this grant.  The amount of the grant awarded can be $850 to $3150 per year.   Currently, there are 147 Sprague seniors not taking advantage of this program. 2/27

The Theater Department’s Spring show Nightwatch has arrived!  Our protagonist, Ellie is suffering insomnia when she happens to see a murder across the street. But when police arrive to investigate, the evidence seems to have disappeared. Doubting her sanity her husband and best friend intervene but is it enough? When the police, and her own beloved friends are acting strangely and Ellie is convinced that a murder is happened, what lengths will she go to in order to prove her case?  Running February 27, 28 and 29th and March 5, 6 and 7th at 7pm– this is a thrilling show you don’t want to miss, can you figure out who is guilty of murder? 3/5

Attention ALL girls wanting to come out for softball. Friday is the LAST day to get registered in order to try out Monday for softball. If you are not cleared, you cannot tryout until cleared. See Coach Qualls in room 135 for any questions. 2/28 

Each day this week, the ASPIRE Room will remain open until 5 p.m. to assist any Sprague student and/or family to complete their FAFSA, Oregon Promise, OSAC, and provide any scholarship assistance.  The ASPIRE Room will open on Saturday morning for anyone needing assistance as well.  If you have any questions, please see Ms. Dunn.
