Congratulations Sprague racquetball for winning state. The Girls and Boys teams both took 1st place, the overall team took 1^st place as well. This is the 4th consecutive state title for the Sprague Racquetball Club. Great job and good luck at Nationals!!!!

Congratulations to the Sprague Robotics Team, Hand of Ultron, for their win at League Championships! They won 1st place at the competition and a 1st place award for robotics outreach! They will now be moving on to Superqualifiers in February.

Congratulations to the Men and Ladies of the Bowling team. They competed last weekend at districts where the ladies beat McKay and ended up losing to Silverton for 2nd place. On the guys side they would beat Dallas and would end up losing to McKay for 2nd! Erin White and Nick Karr made the All-Star team and will compete in March. Good Luck at State Oly Bowlers!! Knock those Pins Down next month!!

This Monday is Martin Luther King National Day of Service.  In 1994, the Federal Government made this a day of service.  It is not meant to be a holiday—but a day of thoughtful planned service to others.  You may want to pick up some garbage in the neighborhood, help a neighbor, or help your parents.  By helping others, you will honor the legacy of this great man.  During the century after the Civil War, African Americans remained segregated in the South.  There they were treated with prejudice, denied voting rights and even lynched.   Many African American leaders sought to overcome this.  One leader was Martin Luther King.  He was a minister who supported civil protest to bring about change. He would be killed in 1968, at the age of 39.  Thank you, Dr. King for changing the world with your bravery!

Congratulations to the #3 ranked Sprague Wrestling team who improved to 11-1 on the season with a 59-18 win over McKay last night. Sprague won 11 of the 13 contested matches and had solid victories from Brook Byers, Colby Hemmert, & Cole Bachelor (Batch-uh-lur). Varsity 2 also won and is now 4-0 on the season. The final chance to get to see the wrestling team compete at home will be against South Salem next Wednesday at 7 pm. See you there!

Saturday, Sprague's Advanced Constitution Law team proudly competed at the regional We the People competition. They are the first team nation-side to be student coached and the only team outside of Portland-metro to compete. The team performed outstanding in both their prepared remarks and question and answer sessions. Sprague walked away from the competition with the Unit Two award! Please congratulate members of the Con Law team on their performance - Go Olys!

Attention all students: The next math League of the year is tomorrow, January 14^th in room 6.  Bring a friend and come earn some extra points for your math grade. 1/14

Congratulations to the #3 ranked Sprague Wrestling team who improved to 10-1 on the season with a 65-16 win over North Salem last Friday. The win continues an unbeaten streak of dual meet victories over Salem-Keizer schools that spans nearly a decade! The wrestlers also won the 12-team Screamin’ Eagle Invitational on Saturday. Sprague was led by freshmen Josh Camillo, Tanner Short, Cole Steketee (Stek-uh-tee), & Elijah Byers who all placed in their divisions. Jackson Noud and Stan Cernev (Ser-niff) also placed high for the Olympians. The wrestlers get a chance to continue the dual meet streak on Wednesday at McKay High School. Varsity action begins at 7 pm. See you there!

Congratulations to the #4 ranked Sprague Wrestling team who improved to 2-0 in conference competition with a 59-18 victory over West Salem last night. Sprague won 11 of the 14 matches and had big wins from Cole Bacheller and Bo Davis. The victory marks an undefeated streak in which the wrestling team hasn’t lost to a Salem-Keizer school in nearly 10 years! Come watch the wrestlers attempt to continue the streak tonight against North Salem and for an opportunity to win Dutch. Varsity action begins at 7 pm. See you there!

Ok, Sprague! Ready for your first spirit week competition? We will be having a penny drive to raise money for our Unified programs here at Sprague. Jars for the penny drive can be found in the main office and commons during lunch starting on Thursday, January 9^th. This is a class competition, so each grade has their own jar. Pennies count as one point, so you want to add those to your grade’s jar. Other coins and cash count as negative points, so you can add those to other grades jars to sabotage them. The winners of this competition will get points towards their spirit week totals, so start raising pennies! 1/17

Attention students planning to attend Chemeketa this fall! The Chemeketa Foundation scholarship application is open from January 1-February 29! Students can complete a simple application in about 30 minutes. Awards range from $300-$4,000. You don't have to be a 4.0 student to apply. Scholarship funds may cover tuition, fees, textbooks and other expenses. 1/10

If you are interested in participating in a spring sport, Track and Field, Softball, Baseball, Golf or Tennis on-line registration will open up on February 1^st. To participate you must be enrolled in five classes, have a current sports physical on file and pass five classes first semester. Chemeketa Community College is hosting an information session for prospective Chemeketa Scholars applicants on Wednesday, January 29^th at 6 p.m. at Building 6. Chemeketa Community College offers a full tuition scholarship for up to two years to any graduating high school student residing in our district who has a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better (as of first semester/quarter grades of final year in high school).  1/28
