Congratulations to our awesome Oly artists in the 2020 Marion County Recycling Art Calendar Contest. Winners are sophomore Makayla Meleason and senior Chloe Elmore. Grand Prize Winner is sophomore Kate Swenson. This is the 5th year in a row that Ms. Toland’s upper level drawing students have taken the top honors and it is Chloe Elmore’s second win! Nice work Oly artists!

The following students won individual awards: Dorian Azar placed third in Memorized Interpretation and Andy Conn and Jordan Baker placed second in Novice Parliamentary Debate. What is it like to live on a Native Reservation today? What changes do Indigenous people want or need to see for their communities? Congratulations to the Sprague Speech and Debate Team for their outstanding work at the Jerry Hudson Invitational held at Willamette University. A dozen Olympians competed against speakers from 15 schools from around the state and the following students won individual awards. Jade Hua placed 10th in JV Parliamentary Debate Speaker Points. Kyra Mason placed 9th in JV Parliamentary Debate Speaker Points. Jade Hua placed 5th in Junior Varsity Impromptu Speaking. Kaylee Tolentino placed 4th in Junior Varsity Radio Commentary. Alex Steele placed 3rd in Varsity Oratory Speaking. And Dorian Azar placed 1st in Memorized Interpretation. Great start to the competition year Oly Speechies!

Attention Students:  On Wednesday, October 16th we will operate using an abbreviated schedule to accommodate PSAT and ASVAB testing as well as senior graduation prep work. Juniors may elect to take the PSAT as well for a charge of $16 if paid by October 9th.  Interested students must sign up and pay their fee to the Bookkeeper in the main office.  The cost will increase to $20 starting October 10th.  Signing up to take the PSAT on the day of the test is not permitted.  10/9

Homecoming dance is just around the corner, on Friday October 11th from 8pm to 10:30pm. Homecoming Dance forms and Guest forms are now available in the main office. If you are bringing a guest, you and your guest must complete a guest dance form. All Sprague students must complete a dance form.  All the forms must be completely filled out and returned to the main office no later than Wednesday October 9th, prior to purchasing tickets. The tickets are on sell for $8 or $5 with ASB card through the bookkeeper. Tickets will not be sold at the door.  We want everyone to have a fun, enjoyable, safe time at the dance and so appropriate dancing must be adhered to throughout the evening. Homecoming dance is just around the corner, on Friday October 11th from 8pm to 10:30pm. Homecoming Dance forms and Guest forms are now available in the main office. If you are bringing a guest, you and your guest must complete a guest dance form. All Sprague students must complete a dance form.  All the forms must be completely filled out and returned to the main office no later than Wednesday October 9th, prior to purchasing tickets. The tickets are on sell for $8 or $5 with ASB card through the bookkeeper. AP STUDENTS: AP Registration is now open from October 1st through to Monday November 4th. The cost is $75 per exam. If you are a Free and Reduced Lunch recipient, please stop by the main office. Do you know someone who is deaf?  Are you interested in deaf culture?  And last question, did you know that last week was Deaf Awareness Week?  Well, we did…we’re the ASL Club and we’d like to invite everyone who is interested in ASL to start coming to the American Sign Language Club meetings!  They are held the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month at lunch in Ms. Hatfield’s room, that’s room 119.  The next meeting will be on Wednesday, October 9th at lunch.  Bring your lunch, friends and any questions you ever wanted to know about deaf culture.  See you then! 10/4

Leadership is holding a Halloween decoration drive to help us spruce up our look for the Fall Festival and for our halls during the Halloween season. if you have any decorations you are willing to donate, there will be a box in Mr. Schuellers room in 142. Thanks! 10/4

The Sprague Fr/So. Football team had a dominant win last night versus Lincoln.  In a total team effort, the Olys controlled the game from start to finish, shutting out the visiting Cardinals. The team will now begin a tough 3 game road trip and will be back in Olympian Stadium on 10/31 vs. Ridgeview.
