This week is National Computer Science
Week. Sprague High School is taking part in Hour of Code. Each day
this week we will be highlighting some information in the announcements.
Take some time to read the posters in the hall. Did you know that 58% of
all new jobs in STEM are in computing? But only 8% of STEM graduates are
in Computer Science. If you want to be in a high demand field – consider
computer science. Keep on Coding Sprague.
On Thursday, December 12th
– The Oregon State University Admissions officer will be at our campus for a special VIP Admissions event.

Attention Freshmen! Do you want to be a leader
in your class? Apply now to be a class officer! Positions are needed for vice
president, secretary, and treasurer. Applications can be found in Mr. Schueller

Kaiser Permanente Health Care Career
Scholarship Program application closes this Friday, December 13th at
5 p.m. This scholarship is available for a graduating senior who
has a minimum weighted GPA of 2.50, planning to pursue an education and career
from becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant, X-Ray Technician, Physical
Therapist, or Dental Hygienist. You can access the application at www.kp.org/kpnwscholarship .

Congratulations to the Sprague Olyannes dance team! They
successfully competed against the best teams in the state at the Fall Category
Championships at Lakeridge High School on December 7 placing second in the
Novelty category and third in the Modern category. In addition, 8 dancers qualified
to compete in the individual drill down competition and 2 placed in the top
3: freshman Esther Thao placed second in the novice division and senior
Hannah Li won the advanced division becoming the fall drill down champion!
Cheers to the Olyannes for a great fall season!

16th through the 20th, during Lunch and after school
until 3:30.

Bonjour Sprague, do you want to
learn about the French painter Monet and his art? Join us for French club this
Thursday December 12th during lunch in room 123 to learn his art by recreating
one of his famous paintings as a group. You’ll be painting his art as
impressionists along with the rest of the French club members. Don’t miss it!

Congratulations to the #4 ranked Sprague
Wrestling team who won the 23 team Tyrone S. Woods Memorial Invitational this
past weekend. The wrestlers crowned three champions, sophomores Brayden Boyd
and Brook Byers, & senior Noah Worthington. Finishing second was junior
Owen Scott & seniors Colby Hemmert & Brock “Big Mac” McMullen. Congrats
Sprague wrestlers & good luck this weekend at the Rose City Championships.
Congratulations to Sprague’s
Speech and Debate team for their outstanding work this last Saturday at the
Holiday Edge Invitational in Portland. 7 Olympians competed in several speaking
and debate events against student from all across the state. The following students
earned individual awards. Congratulations to Jade Hua for being a semi-finalist
in Novice Division Spontaneous Argumentation. Kira Wright and Holley Cass
placed 3rd in Novice Division Duo Interpretation. And Abby Boyd
placed first in Novice Division Humorous Interpretation. Way to go Oly
Speechies. Good luck this upcoming weekend at the Grizzly Invitational at
Ashland HS.
