Today is National Tartan Day, which is a day that honors America's Scottish Heritage.  Over 25 million Americans claim Scottish descent.

Many people wear plaid, kilts, or capes on this day to honor their Scottish roots.

The April date is significant because on April 6, 1320, the Scottish Declaration of Independence was signed.

This document states  “It is in truth not for glory, nor riches,  that we are fighting, but for freedom ... for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.”

In our revolutionary war, Scottish troops provided vital support to gain our independence from Britain.

In Scotland the word for horray is Yaldi, so today we say, Yaldi for Scotland.
