Attention Seniors, Sprague Boosters are once again offering two -$1,000 scholarships. You may pick up the application in room 160 (ASPIRE) They are due back May 2nd in the Sprague Booster in-box in the business office or mail to Sprague- Attn: Sprague Boosters.

ALL Juniors and Sophomores, Listen carefully.  CTEC is hosting a presentation by Darren Pleasance, the Global Customer Acquisition Director of Google, in a talk about how technology impacts your lives.  He will present information and then there will be a chance to ask questions.  He is a dynamic speaker exploring a cutting edge subject that pertains to all of us. We are extending this invitation to 30 Juniors and Sophomores from each high school.  There is limited space available and we anticipate it filling up fast.  Due to AP testing, we will not be taking AP students for this assembly.  If you want to attend please see the business office to sign up for this presentation. We can only take the first 30 students.  A permission slip needs to be completed and returned to the business office by May 2nd. The presentation is May 3rd.  We will provide transportation.   You will leave for CTEC at 10:45 and return to your school by 1:00.  You will need to eat lunch before you leave.  Signup deadline is April 29th. 4/29

Team Sprague Track and Field defeated the West Albany Bulldogs in both the Boys and the Girls  in a Dual on Tuesday 4/26. The Olys Boys team  were led by double winners Austin Kleinman in the Shot Put and Discus and S. J. Oum in the 100m and 200m.  Additional boys wins were by Connor Davidson in the 300m Hurdles, Keaton Beckmann in the Long Jump, Jake Donnellan in the 1500m, Colby Evenson in the 800m, and Eric Martin in the Pole Vault.  Our Boys 4x100m Relay team of S.J. Oum, Jesus Coria-Regalado, Keaton Beckmann and Andrew Weaver also won and our Boys 4x400M Relay team of S.J. Oum, Colby Evenson, Keaton Beckman and Gabe Garcia won as well.


On the Girls Side, Sprague wins came from Emily Kraschel in the 100m, Alexa Smith in the 200m, Gillian Berry in the 400m, Lauren Hagenbeck in the 3000m, Natalia Cedillo-Rodriguez in the 300mHurdles, and Leah Olivo in the Triple Jump.  The 4x400 Relay team of Gillian Berry, Emily Kraschel, Caroline Nettleton and Alexa Smith also won.  Our JV's team also swept in both the boys and girls.  Double winners in the JVs for the girls were Kelly Shea in the Sprints and Saffron Cooper in the Throws.  Double winners for the boys were Gaige Reece in the Hurdles.  Jacob Luna had a tremendous Personal Record Throw in the Javelin.  Please come out and join us for our last home meet on 5/4 as we honor our Seniors in our Dual versus McKay.  If you would like to volunteer your time at the meet, please contact Coach Charles.

Boys golf competes today at McNary Golf Course in Keizer. The team will be dismissed at 10:45am for a 11am departure. The team will meet at the North parking lot near the activity buses.

Mr. and Miss Olympian Pageant contestants have been raising money all year for Doernbecher Children's Hospital.  The final, grand event will be on April 16 at the downtown Elsinore Theatre starting at 7 am.  Tickets will be pre-sold on the stage during lunch and also during non-class time from Mrs. Bucholz in room 161.  Cost of tickets are $12 each.

We will be on a short assembly schedule this Friday to preview our Spring sports and the upcoming Oly Pageant. There will be a dash for cash to help raise funds for the Doernbecher’s Children Hospital, so bring some cash to the assembly and help the cause! The assembly begins at 8:55, so if you have late arrival, please plan on being in the gym at that time! The schedule is posted online. See you all Friday.

ALL Juniors and Sophomores, Listen carefully.  CTEC is hosting a presentation by Darren Pleasance, the Global Customer Acquisition Director of Google, in a talk about how technology impacts your lives.  He will present information and then there will be a chance to ask questions.  He is a dynamic speaker exploring a cutting edge subject that pertains to all of us. We are extending this invitation to 30 Juniors and Sophomores from each high school.  There is limited space available and we anticipate it filling up fast.  Due to AP testing, we will not be taking AP students for this assembly.  If you want to attend please see the business office to sign up for this presentation. We can only take the first 30 students.  The presentation is May 3rd.  We will provide transportation.   You will leave for CTEC at 10:45 and return to your school by 1:00.  You will need to eat lunch before you leave.  Signup deadline is April 29th.

Please release the Varsity Track Team for their invite at Hood River after lunch (11:27).  A reminder to the pole vaulters to weigh in promptly at the beginning of lunch.  A final reminder to JV and Novice Track Athletes that we have a late start on Monday due to the Faculty Department Meetings.  All students on academic probation need to be in the mandatory study hall in the portables at 2:30 on Monday as well.
The Sprague Cheerleading coaches are hosting a brief clinic on Monday, April 18th from 3:30 - 5:00 pm in the Auxillary Gym for anyone who may be interested in being a part of cheer for the 2016-2017 school year.  You will have a chance to meet the coaches, learn about the program and become familiar with the expectations and try-out process.  If you've been wanting to get involved and make a difference in the spirit and culture of the Oly Nation, please come check it out!  Try-outs will be held in May and you can pick up a packet in the Athletics Office!

Congratulations to Sprague’s regional math team who competed in yesterdays Regional Math Contest at Chemeketa Community College. Top students from around the region competed in the areas of algebra, geometry, algebra 2, pre-calculus and calculus.  Individual Regional Placers from Sprague included:  Luke Marley who took 2nd place in the geometry 25 minus completion.  Luke Marley and Savannah Joye who placed 1st and 2nd in the geometry qualifying exam.  Alex Taloyo and Caleb Cooper placed 1st and 2nd in the pre-calculus qualifying exam.  And Alex Taloyo was awarded best estimation for pre-calculus in the estimation competition.  Through the qualifying exam Sprague will now be represented at the State competition by Luke Marley and Savannah Joye for geometry and Alex Taloyo for pre-calculus.  Top honors went to Sprague students in two levels of team problem solving as well.  Savannah Joye and Luke Marley won for geometry and Hannah Taylor and David DeZee topped the field in calculus.  A special congratulations goes to Hannah Taylor as she is now a 4-time regional champion in team problem solving. She has won in the levels of geometry, algebra 2, pre-calculus and calculus.  Sprague finished 3rd in the team relay and 3rd overall in the region.  Great job Olys!

It was a great day for Track and Field yesterday.  Team Sprague had a very successful developemental meet at Forest Grove yesterday.  Notable PR's were done by Noah Mellen and Kelly Shea in the 100 meters, Elise Abbott in the 3000 meters, Emily Kraschel in the 200 meters, Lexie Harman in the Shot Put, Eli Myers in the Discus, Bryce Perkins in the Javelin, and Keaton Beckmann in the Triple Jump.  The Sprague Varsity will be going to Hood River for a by Invitation Meet tomorrow.  Our next Home Meet will be on Wednesday 4/20.  Please come cheer us on and if you would like to help, please come see Coach Charles in P-33.

This is our chance to make sure that leaders all over the state know what matters to women in our community. The town hall will be fun and interactive.  Childcare, refreshments and Spanish translation services will be provided. All women and girls are invited to attend  Salem "Listen to Her" Town Hall, Tuesday, April 12, Chemeketa Community College, Winema Building 48, Upstairs in Room 210, 4000 Lancaster Dr NE, Salem, Oregon 97305. There will also be information about the Spanish National Honor Society and travel opportunities. Stop by and see what’s going on!

Sprague had the winning entry in the high school category for the city of Salem’s “City Trees, City Beautiful” art poster contest. The winner is Hanna Cruzen. We also had two honorable mentions, Dana Petrie and Sarah Sliger. The winning poster will be used for outreach and education at the many different Tree City USA celebration events in Salem this year. This is the 40th year that Salem has been designated a Tree City USA. This was a new contest for Sprague and our students interpreted the theme with creativity and excellent craftsmanship. Hanna wins a $70 gift certificate to The Art Department. Awards will be presented by the Mayor and City Councilors at an April 2016 City Council meeting.

Congratulations to wrestler Evan Spragg who earned All-American honors at the Reno Worlds wrestling tournament this past weekend.  Evan finished 6th place in a tough field and will also represent Oregon on an all-star team competing in Japan this summer.  Congrats, Evan, and good luck overseas!

Team Sprague Track and Field had a very good meet Wednesday at Olympian Stadium vs. McNary. We thank all the volunteers who helped to run the meet.  Austin Kleinman had a monster PR in the Shot Put joining the 51' club.  Megan Sims joined the 100' club in the Discus.
There were other very impressive performances and many Personal Records were set. Great Job Olys!

Mr. and Miss Olympian Pageant contestants have been raising money all year for Doernbecher Children's Hospital.  The final, grand event will be on April 16 at the downtown Elsinore Theatre starting at 7 am.  Tickets will be pre-sold on the stage during lunch and also during non-class time from Mrs. Bucholz in room 161.  Cost of tickets are $12 each.

Tuesday, April 26th is Reach Higher Day at Sprague High School .  On that day, the school will celebrate the Class of 2016!  Seniors please visit Room 160 and sign up for the event.  If you have any questions please see Ms. Dunn in the ASPIRE Room.

Reminder: The Russ Riley Scholarship application is Friday, April 8th.  Applications are available in the ASPIRE Room 160.

Congratulations to Sprague Speech and Debate for their outstanding work at last weekend's OSAA District Tournament. Sprague students dominated the competition from Silverton and Blanchet, and Sprague is sending 17 students to State later this month. Sprague's team won Districts as a team, and the following students are advancing to State:

Attention Seniors, Sprague Boosters are once again offering two -$1,000 scholarships. You may pick up the application in room 160 (ASPIRE) They are due back May 2nd in the Sprague Booster in-box in the business office or mail to Sprague- Attn: Sprague Boosters.

Girls Varsity Tennis Team will be competing against McKay today at the Courthouse Tennis Center with an early match start time of 2:00. All varsity players will be release from school at 12:45 and the activity bus will leave promptly at 1:00.

An open gym for all boys and girls interested in soccer will take place every Wednesday starting this week. The open gym will be from 230-4 in the upper gym. Any questions, see Mr. T.

Boys golf competes today at Michelbook Country Club in McMinnville. The team will be dismissed at the start of lunch for a 11am departure. The team will meet behind the gym near the activity buses.
