Concordia University will be hosting the Asian American Youth Leadership Conference on Friday, May 15th.  The conference will provide opportunities to gain personal development and knowledge, learn and share your cultural/ethnic heritage, meet new friends and network with others, experience new ideas and possibilities, and participate in a variety of scholarship competitions.  Applications are available in the business office and will be due on April 3rd.  For more information about the conference and the scholarship applications, please see Mrs. Langeliers in the business office. 4/10

Attention Olys! This week is our Neon Spirit Week! Today's theme is Color Day.

This week also marks the beginning of the Oly Olympics. Competitions will be happening at lunch Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the commons or the gym. Each class has been assigned a color based on the colors of the Olympic rings. Freshman are blue, Sophomores are yellow, Juniors are green, and Seniors are red. Shirts will be for sale at lunch all week for five dollars, and are to be worn at the assembly Friday. Whichever class wins the lunchtime competitions and has their color most represented at the Friday assembly will get into the Neon Dance for free, as well as get free food or drinks at the dance. Get into the spirit and get your shirt today! 2/27

Attention students- sign ups for the Oly Hoop Jam three on three tournament are due THIS FRIDAY in the athletic office if you want a shirt, and the absolute last day to sign up is THIS Friday! The registration forms and additional information are online on the Sprague home page, so hurry up and apply! 2/27
  
Hey there Oly's, happy Oly olympics! As you have probably noticed from the decorations around the school, this week is the battle of the olys week! As one of our first battle of the Olys competitions, we are holding a penny drive! At lunch all this week there will be drop off stations for your class to donate loose change to. The goal is to donate as many pennies as possible to gain points, while also donating other coins and dollar bills to the opposing classes' stock to deduct points. All of the change donated will go directly to Doernbecher children's hospital. Whichever class has the most points at the end of the week will win the competition! So gather up all your loose change olys, and happy donating!" 2/27

Congratulations Sprague DECA for your outstanding performance at the State Conference this past weekend. Juniors Brandon Roth, Morgan Coursey, and Shanti Basu all finaled in the top 10 spots of their competitive events. Senior Maddy Teter won first place for the Marketing Career Cluster exam, and junior Brittney Kurpois was elected into State office for Vice President of Communications & District II Vice President position for the 2015-2016 school year. National qualifiers for the Career Development Conference in Orlando include Brandon Roth and Morgan Coursey for Business Law & Ethics Team Decision-Making Event, and Brandon Roth for Human Resources Management Event. Attention Olys! This week is our Neon Spirit Week! Today's theme is Senior Citizen Day, Tuesday is Dress Like Your Teacher Day, Wednesday is Comic con/Superhero Day, Thursday is Decade Day, and Friday is Color Day.

This week also marks the beginning of the Oly Olympics. Competitions will be happening at lunch Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the commons or the gym. Each class has been assigned a color based on the colors of the Olympic rings. Freshman are blue, Sophomores are yellow, Juniors are green, and Seniors are red. Shirts will be for sale at lunch all week for five dollars, and are to be worn at the assembly Friday. Whichever class wins the lunchtime competitions and has their color most represented at the Friday assembly will get into the Neon Dance for free, as well as get free food or drinks at the dance. Get into the spirit and get your shirt today! 2/27

Hey there Oly's, happy Oly olympics! As you have probably noticed from the decorations around the school, this week is the battle of the olys week! As one of our first battle of the Olys competitions, we are holding a penny drive! At lunch all this week there will be drop off stations for your class to donate loose change to. The goal is to donate as many pennies as possible to gain points, while also donating other coins and dollar bills to the opposing classes' stock to deduct points. All of the change donated will go directly to Doernbecher children's hospital. Whichever class has the most points at the end of the week will win the competition! So gather up all your loose change olys, and happy donating!" 2/27

Congratulations to Sprague’s Speech and Debate team on their outstanding work last weekend at the prestigious UC Berkeley tournament.  Over 3,000 of the nation’s best competitors were there.  The following Olys won individual awards.  Brandon Roth advanced to triple finals in varsity Lincoln-Douglas debate.  Geovanny Tolentino advanced to double-octar in JV Lincoln-Douglas debate. And Jonah Calhoun semi-finaled in Humorous Interpretation.  Great Job Oly Speechies!

A big Congratulations to both the boys and girls swim team this past weekend.  Every Swimmer went their best time and 10 swimmers are headed to state.  The Boy’s 200 Medley Relay, 400 Freestyle Relay and the Girls 200 Freestyle Relay all qualified for state.  The individual state qualifiers include Evette Dow in the 200 IM, Colby Evenson in the 200 IM, Justin Tryon in the 100 Butterfly, Colby Evenson in the 100 Backstroke, and Parker Green in the 100 Breaststroke.  A Special Congratulations to Kate Goldsworthy, the 2015 District Champion in the 50 Freestyle and Evette Dow, the District champion in the 500 Freestyle.  Great Job Olys and good luck at State.

Congratulations to the Sprague Wrestling team for finishing the dual meet season undefeated!!  The Sprague Winter Warriors defeated Forestgrove 66-3 and McNary 39-30!  The Olys were lead by seniors Jared Hampl, Logan  Holmquist, Jake Vaughn, and Corson Davis who all pinned their opponents.  Outstanding performance of the night came from junior Spencer Nofziger and Junior Jake Nelson who came up with big wins!!  The JV's also went undefeated in the league as well!  Great performance by Leif Bennet, Dane McKinney, and Brendon Hasseler.  Great job Olys!!

Attention NEXT year's Juniors and Seniors...  The new Career and Technical Education Center is opening this fall to all 2015-16 Juniors and Seniors interested in careers in residential construction or commercial manufacturing.  There will be an important informational meeting for you and your parents to attend on February 12th at 6:30-7:30 pm in the Library (other location if applicable).  During the meeting you will learn about this exceptional opportunity allowing students to explore hands-on training, skills and knowledge in commercial manufacturing or residential construction, while still enrolled at their residential school where they can participate in their school's extracurricular activities.  Dual credit can be earned for both high school completion, as well as college courses.  Free transportation is provided, if needed.  Again, the meeting  is  February 12th from 6:30 -7:30, in the (library).  We are looking forward to sharing information about this incredible program and opportunity for Salem-Keizer Juniors and Seniors!"   You all should have received a postcard in the mail about these meetings the last week of January.  If you are unable to attend the meeting time at your school, you are very welcome to attend any of the meetings at the other high schools in town.  The postcard lists all of those dates.
