Graduating Seniors of 2016! Don’t forget on Friday June 10, 2016 from 10:00 pm - 3:00 am at South River Road Courthouse Athletic Club. We will be having the Sprague Olys 2016 Graduation Party. Join us for a night of fun, including a casino room, photo booth, inflatable twister, air hockey, pingpong, racquetball, wally ball, boxer bingo and tons of awesome prizes! Don’t forget your swimsuit and towel for the pool and bring an appetite for delicious food, desserts and pop. Keaton Beckmann, Leah Olivo, Austin Kleinman and Kyle Rosenau today were the Sprague Representatives at the State Track Meet.  All competed well and Austin Kleinman placed 3rd in the State.  All state participants, please come see Coach Charles in p-33 to get your state participant certificate.  Great Job Olys.

In 102, Nickel and Dey battle for supremacy of Santa Clause verses the Easter Bunny. In 109, Johnston and Dougherty settle the age-old question of Dr.Pepper verses Coke. Join us for these heart-pounding debates and buy your votes, 1 for $1 or 7 for $5.

It’s that time of year again! Presidential debates aside, we’re getting down to the real issues. Your champion Student-Teacher pairs will be debating topics such as the existence of aliens, qdoba verses Muchas Gracias, and other life-changing topics. Join us tomorrow through friday at lunch in room 101 and 102 for the best debate of your life! Mr.Nickel, Mr.Curry, Mr.Merrel, Mr.Dey and more. So where are you going to be Tuesday at lunch? In room 101 you can watch Merrel & Dougherty debating “Why Everything you know is Wrong” and in room 102 you can watch Nickel and Curry debate whether or not “You should do the reading.” You can buy ballots at the door. 1 dollar gets you 1 ballot. 5 dollars gets you 7. You listen, you vote. All proceeds go to support Sprague speech and Debate. See you there tomorrow!

Today Varsity Softball plays Roseberg at Stewart Park in Roseberg, Oregon for the first Round of the State 6A Softball Playoffs. In addition, Varsity Baseball travels to Gresham for State Baseball Playoffs. Wish our road warriors the best as we take on 2 formidable foes. Better yet, take the time to travel and support your classmates as they put it all on the line for Oly Pride!

Join us as some of your favorite teacher’s debate topics ranging from the existence of aliens to whether Qdoba is better than Chipotle, doing the reading, and why DC is better than Marvel. Watch Mr. Nickel, Mr. Dey, Mr. Merrel, Mr. Johnston, Mrs. Johnson, Mr. Dougherty, and Mr. Curry battle it out in a competition where you decide who wins. For a dollar a vote, or five votes for seven, you can let your voice be heard! Debates happen at lunch during the next two weeks, so check out our USSR posters for locations for the debates. Mark it in your calendars. It’s a great way to enjoy lunch with your comrades and all proceeds go to support Sprague Speech and Debate. 5/20

Dance Team auditions for the 2016-17 Sprague Olyannes dance team will be held on Friday, May 20. Rehearsals for auditions will be in the auxiliary gym from Tuesday, May 17 to Thursday, May 19 from 7 to 9 pm. An informational meeting will be held on Monday, May 16 at 7 pm in the Sprague library.  Completion of athletic registration forms and sports physicals are needed before auditioning. Forms are available in the athletic office. 5/19

Sprague softball dominated the Cleveland Warriors 15-5 in 6 innings for a win to take them into the state tournament. Sprague will take on Roseburg on the road Monday. Start strong, Stay Strong, Sprague Strong!

Congratulations to the Team Sprague Track and Field Team for their performance at the District Track Meet.  The Boys placed 4th at the meet and were led by state qualifiers Keaton Beckmann, Austin Kleinman and Kyle Rosenau.  Austin Kleinman was named the male field athlete of the meet as selected by the coaches. The girls were led by point scorers Megan Sims, Alexa Smith, Mia Diaz, Emily Kraschel, Ellie Stuart , Elise Abbott, and Megan Baus.  Leah Olivo qualified for the State meet as well. Great Job Olys!

Team Sprague Track and Field did a great job at Day 1 of the District Meet yesterday.  State qualifiers from yesterday include Austin Kleinman, who won the discus with a toss of 161 feet that moved him to 3rd all-time in school history.  Kyle Rosenau also qualified in the Discus as the Olympians went 1st and 2nd in the event.  We had great performances throughout the team as many of our runners qualified for the Finals Today and both Ellie Stuart and Elise Abbott placed in the top 8 in the womens 3000 meters.  Teachers please release our team at 1:45 today as we wrap up day 2.

The Sprague Girls Varsity Tennis Team will be competing again at Districts today in McMinnville with a tournament start time of 9:00 am. On Thursday, the Sprague girls won 3 doubles matches and 1 singles match. Play continues for all players today with either second round matches or consolations.

The Sprague boys golf team placed 4th at Regionals on Monday with a season low team score of 333. Junior Alex Reyes posted the low team score of 80 (+8). Seniors David Martinez and Charlie Kimball also posted great rounds of 81 and 82. With their stellar performances, both Alex Reyes and David Martinez qualified for the state tournament as individuals. The state will be held May 16 & 17 at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis, Oregon. Great job boys!

Girls Varsity Tennis Team will be competing at Districts today in McMinnville with a tournament start time of 1:00. The traveling varsity players will need to be released from school after 1st period at 9:00 am.

Great Job Team Sprague Track and Field at the JV Bash on Friday.  There were a lot of PR's and high finishers.  If you placed 8th or higher, come by Coach Charles' room to pick up your ribbon.  If you placed 1st, come get your really cool medal.  JV athletes are reminded to make sure that they turn in their uniform if they checked one out.  A second reminder is that they are expected to be at the Middle School Meet tomorrow to help us run it.  For the Varsity athletes---reminder that we have a late start practice due to the Faculty meeting.  All members on academic probation need to meet in P-33 right at 2:30.  Be on time.  All other athletes are expected to be in the stadium by 3:30 dressed and ready to go for practice.
