The first day of girls tennis tryouts is today, on the tennis courts - rain or shine from 2:40-4:00.

Attention all baseball players: Tryouts will begin today starting at 3:15 in the hitting facility. Be on time and dressed ready to go. 

Hey Olys, we are competing against other schools in a Shoe Battle.  All shoes donated to One Thousand Soles go to help families that may not be able to buy shoes.  If you have any new or gently used shoes that you, or your family, don’t want any more or that you have outgrown, bring them to school any time before March 15th and put them in the bin in front of the offices. All sizes are needed.  If you have any further questions talk to Jestin Ulin. 3/14

Congratulations to your Sprague Wrestling team who finished in the top 10 at the State Tournament for the 3rd year in a row! The Olympians were led by junior Spencer Nofziger, sophomore Michael Murphy, and freshman Daniel McClung who all placed 3rd. The 9th place finish for the Olympians caps off a successful season which included running away with the GVC title by 135 points, and concluding a perfect 16-0 dual meet season on their way to a dual meet GVC title. Great job wrestlers and congrats on your amazing season!

Attention all softball players, first day of tryouts is today! Please report to the Aux gym at 3:00, dressed and ready to go! Don’t be late!


Team Sprague Track and Field will begin it's 2016 campaign today at 2:45 in the stadium.  We are there rain or shine, so dress for the weather.  If you still want to come out but haven't turned in your paperwork, get that done today so you can join us.

Today is the absolute final day to turn in Sport participation packets.  Monday is the first official day of practice and tryouts.  

This Saturday, the dance team will be hosting a high school dance team competition at Sprague. Twenty teams from around the state will be competing during two rounds beginning at 11:30 am and 3:30 pm. Cost is $7 for one round and $10 for two rounds. Sprague students and the community are invited to come and be entertained!

Special recognition goes to senior Brittney Kurpios for completing her year as State DECA officer, representing both Sprague and Oregon DECA. Sophomore members Austin Stack and Spencer Plant placed in the top 10 finalists of their Sports & Entertainment Marketing Team Decision-Making event category. Great job Sprague DECA! The Sprague Olyannes dance team placed 2nd in the 6A division at the Sheldon dance team competition in Eugene on Saturday, February 20.  In addition, three seniors, Dani Bezley, Britt Hudson and Jessie Johnson won awards in the individual drill down competition. Congratulations to all of the dance team members for their strong performances! 2/22

Well Olys, We are coming to the end of our Random Acts of Kindness week, however that doesn't mean it time to stop being kind!!  We are going to go ahead and continue that throughout our lives. Today is sincere compliments day. Make a point of being in tune with what's going on around you and complimenting on what you're observing.  Everyone has been doing such a great job with the activities we have had, thank you! We are going to continue with the encouragement cards today and remember to keep signing the hearts around the school, let's not forget the people who work so hard!

Congratulations to your Sprague Wrestling team who won their 3rd straight conference title on Saturday by 135 point margin! The Olympians crowned 3 individual champions in Nathan Rediger, Spencer Nofziger, and Jacob Nelson. Also placing in the top 3 to advance to the state tournament 2 weeks from now was Daniel McClung, Evan Spragg, Michael Murphy, Landon Davis, Landon Merzenich, Dane McKinney, Justin Ellis, and Tanner Sorensen.  The conference title concludes a perfect GVC regular season for the wrestlers as they were a combined 16-0 in dual meets—outscoring their opponents 966-147.  Great job wrestlers and good luck at state! 2/16

Team Sprague's 3rd Annual Winter Track Camp is coming soon.  The dates for the camp are 2/23-25 (Tuesday - Thursday).  Forms are available in the athletic office or from Coach Charles in P-33.  All athletes planning on competing for Team Sprague Track and Field this team are strongly encouraged to attend.  Get your forms in now.

The monthly Spanish Club meeting is today at lunch in room 124. We will be learning about celebrating Valentine’s Day in Spanish speaking nations and writing messages in Spanish. 2/9

Today marks the beginning of the Chinese or Lunar New Year.  The festivities last for 15 days and is a time for families with Asian heritage to come together to share good food like long noodles, tangerines and dumplings.  Activities include firecrackers, exchanging red envelopes filled with money, decorating with lanterns and paper scrolls, and hosting parades and dragon dances.  2016 is the Year of the Monkey. People born in this year are said to be intelligent, clever, mischievous, and quick tempered.  2/8

This week is ASPIRE Enrollment Week.  Today’s opportunity involves enrollment.
Did you know that oldest university/college in the state of Oregon is Willamette University (founded in 1842) and the youngest university/college is Oregon State University/Cascades located in Bend, OR. (founded in 2001).  There will be an ASPIRE T-shirt Giveaway during tonight’s varsity home games. 2/5

Representatives from the Chemeketa Community College Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice Program will be visiting Sprague during lunch on Friday Feb. 5th. 2/5

Skiers and snowboarders.  The Snowriders trip is scheduled and going to Mt. Hood Meadows on Saturday, February 13 for a NIGHT trip. It’s $45 for bus and lift ticket.  Monday, February 8th is the Deadline for money.  See Mr. Hatz in room 15A for applications and information as soon as possible. Beginners are encouraged to go! That’s Saturday February 13 for the snowriders night trip.  2/5

AVID Seniors are hosting an Applebee's Pancake Breakfast this Saturday, Feb. 6th.  Tickets cost $8 per person with all proceeds going directly to the AVID students.  If you would like to have a Saturday morning breakfast date and support your classmates, please see any AVID senior to purchase a ticket or Mrs. Bucholz in room 161.  Tickets will not be sold at the door. 2/5

Congratulations to the Sprague Wrestlers who are GVC dual meet champions! They concluded a perfect 8-0 regular season last night with dominating victories over Forest Grove (74-6) and previously unbeaten McNary (57-7). The Olys received big wins from Seth Rediger, Bo Joklur, Jordan Short, and Justin Ellis. Led by Isaac Garcia, Noah Mellen, and Nathan Quist, the JV team was a perfect 8-0 on the season as well. The Olys will take their combined 16-0 record to the district meet next Friday and Saturday at Forest Grove HS. Good luck wrestlers!

Tonight the Olympian Basketball teams take on South Salem at Sprague, however the JV Boys will be playing at South. Again all teams will be at Sprague tonight except the Boys JV who will be playing at South. First game starts at 4:15 Come out and Support your Girls and Boys Basketball teams!! Go Olys!!!!
