Congratulations to Sprague's Speech and Debate team on their outstanding work last weekend at both Lewis and Clark University and also Federal Way Invitational in Washington State. At Lewis and Clark the following students earned individual awards: Eden McCall and Arianna Martin octa-finaled in open division Parliamentary debate. Santiago Monleon quarter-finaled in open division Lincoln-Douglas debate. Lindsey Williams semi-finaled in open division extmporaneous speaking. Tate Wadsworth placed 6th in Radio Commentary. Max Rudd placed 5th in Expository speaking and also 2nd in poetry interpretation. And congratulations to Brandon Roth for winning Lincoln Douglas debate at Federal Way. Brandon has now earned his second bid to the Tournament of Champions and as a result, has qualified for that tournament. He is the first Oly to do so. Way to go Oly Speechies! 1/21

There will be a Manga Club Meeting today in the library from 2:30-3:30!  

Do you like free Dutch? Come to the wrestling meet tonight at 7:15 against crosstown rival West Salem. Every time one of your Sprague Olympian wrestlers gets a pin, somebody from the student section gets a free $6 Dutch card. The more pins, the more free Dutch! Get there at 6 to see a college wrestling match between Southern Oregon University and Arizona's Embry Riddle University. Sprague alumni Corson Davis should be competing! Congratulations to freshman wrestler Daniel McClung who was selected as the Salem Sports and Breakfast Club athlete of the week. Daniel went 7-0 this past weekend at the prestigious Oregon Wrestling Classic and is currently ranked #3 in the state. He has multiple wins over returning state placers this season and looks to do well this weekend at the Reser's Tournament of Champions. Come watch Daniel tonight at 7:15 as the Olys take on West Salem in the main gym. Congratulations Daniel on being selected athlete of the week! 1/21

Congratulations to the #10 ranked Sprague wrestlers who trophied in the Oregon Wrestling Classic on their way to a 4th place finish this past weekend. The tournament has the top 20 teams in the state and is considered the state championship for dual meets. Sprague was led by Daniel McClung and Nate Rediger who were undefeated on the weekend. Also performing well for the Olympians were Tanner Sorensen, Jacob Nelson, and Spencer Nofziger. The last time the Olys trophied at this tournament was in 2009. Your Oly wrestlers will compete here this Thursday at 7:15 against West Salem. Come out and experience the "pin to win"--every time a Sprague wrestler gets a pin, somebody in the student section gets a $6 Dutch Bros. gift card. Be there!

The round starts at 1:00 pm and tickets are $6 at the door. The event is a fundraiser for the Sprague dance team so stop by Saturday afternoon for some great entertainment!

The Spanish Club meets every second Tuesday of the month in room 124 at lunch. That is tomorrow; see you there.

Congratulations to Sprague’s Speech and Debate team on their outstanding performance last weekend at the University of Puget Sound tournament. Oly speechies competed against students from 57 schools, across 6 states, as well as teams from Canada. The following students earned individual honors: Max Rudd placed 5th in Interpretive Reading and also placed 5th in Expository Speaking. Christina Odell was a quarterfinalist in Novice Lincoln-Douglas debate and also placed 5th in total speaking points. Ramon Martinez placed 4th in Novice Lincoln-Douglas speaking points. Lindsey Williams placed 3rd in Open Division Impromptu Speaking. And Brandon Roth placed 2nd in Open Division Lincoln-Douglas Speaking points, 3rd overall, and earned bids both to State and also to the prestigious Tournament of Champions competition held later this spring. It’s Sprague’s 3rd bid ever. Great job Oly Speechies!

Congratulations to the Sprague wrestlers for finishing 3rd (out of 15 schools) at the Screaming Eagle Invitational.  Leading the Winter Warriors were Champion Wes Soderstrom and finalist were Evan Spragg – 2nd , Michael Soper – 2nd, Brayden Pfeiler – 2nd, Other placers of the tournament were Dalton Lethco-Willis – 3rd, Bollong Joklur – 5th, Landon Merznenich – 4th, Hunter Botek – 6th.  Great job Olys!  The 10 ranked Olys will travel to McMinnville to take on the #3 ranked Grizzlies this Wednesday (Jan. 13th) 7:00 pm.  Should be some real exciting matches!!  Hope to see you there!!

Congratulations to the 7th ranked Olympian wrestlers who extended their record to 3-0 last night with big wins over South Salem and North Salem. Sprague received big wins from Evan Spragg, Seth Rediger, and 3rd ranked Michael Murphy. The Olympians will dual #3 ranked McMinnville next Wednesday in McMinnville.
