The Freshman Football ended it's season last night with a resounding win over McNary 44-14. It was a great team win.  Ethan Flanigan, as the quarterback, led the offense to putting 44 points on the board.  Jalen Hammer and Max Shaw had receiving touchdowns.  Eli Larson led the line along with Alonzo Garcia, Austin Steiner, Jacob Luna, Brogan O'Leary, Jaron Bos, Michael Blevins led a strong rushing attack with running scores by Gejuan Lancaster, Landon Davis and Floyd Davidson. The Defense was very stout led by the hard hitting of Landon Davis,Will Deloretto,  Po Tapia and Brady Mitchell.  The secondary had interceptions by Will Deloretto and Josh Johnson.  The Special Teams were special!  Floyd Davidson blocked a punt which set up an offensive touchdown, Gejuan Lancaster returned a kickoff for a touchdown, and Brendan Mercier had a great punt which pinned the Celtics deep in their own territory. The Olys had a great season going undefeated in Oregon, with only one loss coming from a Washington team in their 9-1 season.  The future looks very bright as these players continue to compete and progress.

Today is Columbus Day.  It is required by State Law to teach about this day.
Christopher Columbus, an Italian explorer, sailed to find a route to the Spice Islands and Far East.  Land was sighted on October 12, 1492.  His voyage was a world changing event. The post Columbian world brought death from European diseases, while others were enslaved or mistreated by colonial powers. Plants and technology were exchanged between the old world and the new.  Potatoes, Tomatoes, and Chocolate are from the new world. Those who are of Italian heritage celebrate this day to honor Columbus’ courage and the dawn of the great age of exploration.

And now for today’s trivia answer: A bowler, fez, and trilby are all a different types of hat.
