A reminder to all students about next week’s schedule. Invite your parents to  Parent-Teacher Conferences are Monday at 5 to 8 pm, Tuesday at 9am to 12noon, 1 to 4pm, and 5 to 8pm. It is important for your parents to attend and meet your teachers. They may also want to attend the presentation about paying for college. Congratulations to Sprague's Speech and Debate team for their outstanding work last Saturday as we hosted the 42nd Sprague Debate Invitational. Sprague continues to host the only all debate tournament in the state. 200 students from 19 high schools competed in four different debate events, arguing over topics ranging from ocean exploration, the right to be forgotten from internet searches, genetically modified foods, and domestic and international issues concerning public health. The following students won individual awards. Rowan Marquette and Katherine Smith placed 2nd in Novice Parliamentary debate. Santiago Monleon placed 4th in Novice Lincoln-Douglas debate. Colin Gesik placed 3rd and Brandon Roth placed 1st in Senior Division Lincoln-Douglas debate. Great job Oly debaters!  (11/18)

 Congratulations to the Sprague Olyannes Dance Team for placing third in their pom category against strong competitors at the Wilsonville dance team competition on Saturday. In addition, junior Jesse Johnson and sophomore Gess Cole won individual medalist honors in the advanced drill down competition and qualified to compete in drill down at the fall dance team championships. This is a Gift Drive by Sprague High School students for Hoover Elementary School students who might not otherwise receive many gifts over the holiday season. It is a very special event. How do you donate? The teachers who are sponsoring Hoover classes will tell you which grade level they are collecting gifts for, and will have a large box in their rooms where you can donate your gifts. Get into the Holiday Spirit and help make the Holidays rock for Hoover students! (11/14)
  
The HYBRID SAT/ACT TEST is  tomorrow from 8:30AM to 1:00 PM at Sprague.  It only costs $10. You need to come to the Business Office to sign up and pay the Bookkeeper by 3:00 today. This test will help you know if you will be more successful at the SAT or ACT tests. The SAT and ACT are required college entrance exams.  If you are thinking about or planning on going to college, you will be taking one or both of these tests in the spring of your junior year.  All Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors are highly encouraged to take this test as it will give you an idea of what the real testing scenario feels like. If you have any questions, please see your counselor.  (11/14)

Hey Sprague! The time for our Hoover gift drive is upon us again! Each year Sprague sponsors a gift drive for Hoover Elementary school to give gifts to students who might otherwise not receive many over the holiday season. Teachers who are sponsoring classes will have a large box or boxes in their rooms starting this week where you can donate gifts. Each teacher will have a grade assigned to them, so you can ask what age group you will be donating gifts to. Get into the holiday spirit and help make Hoover students holidays rock! (11/14)

The Sprague Olyannes Dance Team received second place in both the hip hop and novelty categories at the dance team competition on Saturday at David Douglas High School in Portland. This was an outstanding achievement for their first competition of the fall season. Congratulations to all of the Olyannes!  (11/10)

After School Tutoring is now being offered four days a week, Monday through Thursday, from 3:00 to 4:30.  Mondays and Wednesdays are with Ms Lilly Davison in Room 114. Tuesdays and Thursdays are with Mr. Harris in Room 12, focusing on Math help. (11/7)

Do you like to bowl?  Are you still looking for a sport to get involved in? The Sprague Boy’s Bowling team is back. Come to a meeting this Friday, November 7th in the Commons to find out more, and meet the Coach who took the team to a district title their last season.  Stop by the Athletic Office to sign up.   (11/7)

Youth Legislature is meeting at lunch this week in room 102 to work on bill writing.  Please come with ideas and drafts of your measures.  Bring a friend.  Tejas is welcome to come too.  (11/7)

We received our results from the American Red Cross fall blood drive and we collected 116 pints of blood, which equates to approximately 348 lives saved by Sprague's collective efforts! Thank you so much for you support. This was the first time we have done a drive in the fall and we are still viewing it as a success. We will be at it again for the spring drive during the first week of March so start hydrating now! (11/7)

Attention Manga Club members!  Our normal Thursday meeting has been postponed to NEXT THURSDAY, Nov. 13 in the library from 2:30-3:30.  We will be sharing the Manga of the Month!  Hope to see you there! (11/7)

Attention Olympians! It is time to get your beard on! This year, for no shave November, we will be holding a competition to see who can grow the best mustache, best beard, and craziest facial hair style. The winner of each category will be awarded a free pizza. Register yourself today as a competitor by talking either Mr. Mirsepassi or Daniel Garland. This competition will be held until December first when the contestants will be evaluated on their quality of facial hair. Happy Growing! (11/14)

Hey Sprague! The time for our Hoover gift drive is upon us again! Each year Sprague sponsors a gift drive for Hoover Elementary school to give gifts to students who might otherwise not receive many over the holiday season. Teachers who are sponsoring classes will have a large box or boxes in their rooms starting this week where you can donate gifts. Each teacher will have a grade assigned to them, so you can ask what age group you will be donating gifts to. Get into the holiday spirit and help make Hoover students holidays rock! (11/14)

The SAT and ACT are required college entrance exams.  If you are thinking about or planning on going to college, you will be taking one or both of these tests in the spring of your junior year.  Do you know which test you will do better on, the SAT or the ACT?  On Saturday, November 15th you can find out by taking the HYBRID SAT/ACT TEST from 8:30AM to 1:00 PM at Sprague.  All Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors are highly encouraged to take this test as it will give you an idea of what the real testing scenario feels like.  It only costs $10. Hey Olys! Every year the Snoball committee teams up with The Bridal Gallery to provide dresses to students that could otherwise not afford them. In order to make this event successful, they rely on the donations from other students within the community. This year Sprague can help by donating gently used dresses from Wednesday October 29th through Friday November 7th in the donation boxes located outside of the attendance and business offices.
