Attention all Sprague students! We are holding a blood drive on March 5th located right here at Sprague high school! Blood is in high demand and we need your help. Skiers and snowboarders: The Snowriders trip is scheduled to go to Mt. Hood Meadows on Saturday, March 15th for a Night trip. It’s $45 for bus and lift ticket.  The Deadline is Tuesday, March 11th for money.  See Mr. Hatz in room 15 or See hall posters for website location.  Applications and information are available on the website and in room 15. Beginners are encouraged to go! That’s $45 for bus and lift on Saturday Night March 15 for the snowriders Night trip.

Also, to support this week's battle of the Olys and Neon Dance, we are selling T-shirts in the commons during lunch. Shirts are only $5, so please come support the week by buying a shirt! (2/28) In honor of battle of the Olys taking place this week, Molli Utti is having a penny war fundraiser for Oly Pageant. This will be a face off of boy’s vs girls. All week during lunch there will be jars in front of the office where you can place pennies to raise points for your team. One penny is equal to one point. You may also put other coins and paper money in the opposite team's jar in order to reduce their score by the amount that the money is worth. This war will take place all this week with the leading team announced daily. The prize is 20 free t shirts for the first 20 people of the winning team who arrive at the dance Friday night. We are pleased to announce the following members who finaled in the top 10 of their competitive events: Blake Gesik, Katie Andrews, Brittney Kurpois, Gloria Sandoval, and Dylan Norris. This year's qualifiers for the International Career Development Conference in Atlanta are: Shanti Basu and Morgan Coursey who brought home 2nd place in the Marketing Communications Team Decision Making Event and Olivia Wall and Delaney Plant who placed 1st overall in the Buying and Merchandising Team Decision Making Event and who also placed 3rd in the Sports and Entertainment Marketing Team Decision Making Event. (2/28) Congratulations to all the State swimmers this weekend. The girls team placed higher than any other CVC teams, winning 12th in the 200 freestyle relay. Evette Dow contributed a 9th place finish in the 200 freestyle and a 6th place finish in the 500 freestyle. Great job Olys. (2/24) Congratulations to Sprague’s Speech and Debate team for their outstanding performances last weekend and the Clark Invitational held at the University of Oregon. Over 30 schools from 3 states and British Columbia, Canada participated. The following Olympians earned multiple individual awards. Brandon Roth finaled in radio commentary, and placed second in impromptu speaking. Blake Gesik finaled in impromptu speaking and extemporaneous speaking. Jonah Calhoun finaled in dramatic interpretation and placed second in humorous interpretation. Aujalee Fisher finaled in Oratory. Chris Silver finaled in poetry interpretation. Alexis Reynolds placed second in prose interpretation. Quentin Michael placed first in Extemporaneous Speaking. Jake Ruger and Aujalee Fisher quarter-finaled in public forum debate. Quentin Michael and Danica Wilbanks quarter-finaled in public forum debate. Brandon Roth Quarter-finaled in Lincoln-Douglas Debate and placed second in overall speaker points. These competitions are open to all Sprague students until each competition has reached its maximum participant limit. If you are interested in participating in one of these lunch time competitions, you must attend a mandatory information meeting that will be held at the beginning of lunch TODAY, in the library. Students who do not attend this meeting will not be able to participate in the Battle of the Sexes competitions. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Mirsepassi before or after school. The Olys had a total of 14 placers at the conference meet crowning three district champions - Jr. Trent Martinez, Jr. Logan Holmquist, and Sr. Yasfy Sorensen. The other wrestlers qualifying for state are Jr. Jared Hampl, Jr. Jake Vaughn, Sr. Dreagn Bennentt, Sr. Troy Dunn, and Sr. Corson Davis. Great job Olys and good luck at State Tournament!! (2/18) Congratulations to the Olympian Swim Team last weekend at district swim meet. The Oly's competed hard pushing the girls to a third place finish and the Boys to a fourth place. District Champions who qualified for the state meet this weekend include Heather Williams in the 50 and 100 Freestyle, Evette Dow in the 200 and 500 Freestyle and Justin Tryon in the 100 Butterfly. (2/13) Congratulations to the Sprague Speech and Debate team for their outstanding performance last weekend at the Jean Ward Invitational held at Lewis and Clark University. 27 schools competed for various team and individual awards. Sprague’s team placed third in debate. The following students won individual awards. Kate Goldsworthy and Olivia Wall semi-finaled in impromptu speaking. The following students were finalists in their individual events: Quentin Michael in extemp, Jake Ruger in humorous interp, Aujalee Fisher in Oratory, Alexis Reynolds in prose interp, and Brandon Roth in radio commentary. Miranda Crowell won outstanding chair in congressional debate. Chris Silver and Blake Gesik quarter-finaled in public forum debate. Quentin Michael and Olivia wall semi-finaled in parliamentary debate. Brandon Roth placed first in Lincoln-Douglas debate. And Danica Wilbanks and Austin Brooks placed first in Public Forum debate.
