(1/23) Don’t forget to donate your unwanted clothes, shoes, bedding etc to Clothes for a Cause. In case you were wondering what they do with the items, here is some information we received: All of the donated items are taken to a sorting center and graded. They are pretty much split in to three categories useable recyclable and not useable. Useable items are distributed to retail outlets that can use the items to generate income for their various causes. Recyclable items are broken down and used to make new products, one example of this is a gentleman that we use to recycle denim, he uses the denim that he recycles to make pencils that do not require any wood and thus no trees are cut down. That leaves us with the not useable items (usually oil stained or molded) these items are disposed of in a manner that is environmentally friendly. We typically do not get to many items in this third category and are happy to keep it that way as it allows us to focus on the good that we can do in helping students like you raise money and helping to prevent these items from ending up in landfills where they have no future.
