Today is our first in-district home football game! To get pumped up and celebrate, there will be a pep-rally held directly after school in the courtyard. (9/20) The Freshman Football team opened league with a resounding thrashing of the Titans. The game was won on our home field with the support of all 60 members of our team and a strong showing by Oly Nation. However, several players had outstanding games that deserve mentioning. Dane McKinney provided strong running, Justin Culpepper quarterbacked our Olys and played an outstanding game on Defense also with an interception, Austin Kleinman terrorized the Titans on both Offense and Defense, Spence Nofziger captained the Offensive Line which controlled the line of scrimmage, Joel Susee had a 65 yd. reception from the TE position, Nick Brotton caught a 70 yd. TD pass and played physical football at Cornerback, Levi Langley had several sacks of the quarterback from his Defensive End position, and Tanner Sorensen, Michael Boles and Ethan Reyes teamed up to go a perfect 4 for 4 on P.A.T. tries. We want to thank the Oly Nation for coming out to support us. Our next home game will be on Wednesday Oct. 9th at 6 pm. We hope you can make it. (9/20) Give it up for you Varsity volleyball team in winning 3-0 against McKay last night. Natalie James led the way with 3 aces and 29 assists. Adding to that was Lindsey Dorsey with 13 kills and 9 digs as well as Emily Rabe with 7 kills. Gabby Pollino helped in the back row with 12 digs and 1 ace. And both Sprague Novice teams won their divisions. Nathaniel Roberts placed third overall in the Varsity race and Gillian Griffin was the fastest Sprague girl. She set a new personal best on a very hilly, tough, course. Others who set new all-time bests included Robert Amarillas, Tyler Dayton and Thomas Schaap. Attention Sprague Speech and Debaters, it's a new year and it's time to meet in preparation for another season of amazing interps, kritiks, counterplans, and of course tournament bling! There is a mandatory meeting today during lunch in Mr. Curry's room, room 109. All of the beginning of the year documents you know and love will be available to hand out, meet your new captains, and get a look at the changes for this year. Also, if there are students out there who would like to know more about Speech Team, possibly join, you are welcome to attend as well. We will answer questions about who we are, what we do, and how thoroughly we dominate the state's competition. The mandatory meeting is today at lunch in room 109. See you there. Attention anyone interested in swimming, we are having a meeting Thursday September 12th in the Library at 6:00 PM. This is a time for you and your parents to learn about swimming and what you can do to help this season be a huge success. Please plan on being there.
