Skiers and snowboarders: The Snowriders trip is scheduled to go to Mt. Hood Meadows on Saturday, Jan. 18th for a Night trip. It’s $45 for bus and lift ticket.  The Deadline is Monday, Jan. 13 for money.  See Mr. Hatz in room 15A or the Sprague website for applications and information as soon as possible. Beginners are encouraged to go! That’s $45 for bus and lift on Saturday Night Jan. 18 for the Snowriders Night trip.

Congratulations to the 10th ranked wrestlers for winning two duals last night over at West Salem! The Sprague Winter Warriors defeated West Salem 48-30, and Tigard High School 52-24!  The Olys were lead by senior Yasfy Sorensen, junior Jake Vaughn, and James Baxter who all defeated their opponents by pins!  The JV remained undefeated on the season by defeating West Salem 46-15, and Tigard 43-24.  The JV's were lead by outstanding performances by Jordon Dodson, Seth Rediger, Spencer Nofzinger, and Triston Friederick!! The match of the night was Sophomore Jacob Nelson who defeated Tigard’s state participant from last year 11-2!  Great job Jacob!! Great job Olys and Good luck this Saturday at the Larry Owings tournament in Canby!!

Today during lunch, make donations and even get your picture taken with Santa! Donations also increase your chance of seeing some of your teachers in incredibly ugly sweaters all day on Thursday before break! If 100 dollars is donated, Mr. Pickett will be sporting an ugly holiday sweater; if 200 dollars is raised, Mr. Mirsepassi will join him; if 300 dollars is raised, Mr. Nickel will join the ugly sweater train, followed by Mr. Wanak at 400 dollars! Last night in girls basketball, Sprague got down 18-0 to start the game, but came back to win an exciting game 47-44 over Madison. Sylvie Kerzman netted 21 pts to lead the Olys!

Team Sprague Track & Field Athletes--We will be having a brief informational meeting for track athletes tomorrow 12/17 in P-33 after school starting at 2:30.  This meeting is for all track athletes who are not involved in a Winter Sport.
Congratulations to the Sprague Wrestlers for finishing 6th in the Prestigious Rose City tournament this past weekend at Westview High School.  The Olys were lead by Sophomore James Baxter who lost a close match in the finals to the state champion from Washington.  Other place winners were Jake Vaughn - 5th, Dreagn Bennet - 6th, Yasfy Sorensen - 4th, Corson Davis - 5th, and Erik Guerrero - 6th.  Great job Olys!!

 Also congrats to the JV team for finishing 4th at the Jefferson Varsity tournament!  The Olys were lead by Jordon Dodson, Evan Spragg, Seth Rediger, and Ryan Morgan!

The girls placed first in the 200 Butterfly Relay, the 200 freestyle relay, and the 400 freestyle relay. The Boys placed first in the 200 breaststroke relay and the 400 freestyle relay. Sprague qualified in the contemporary, pom and novelty categories by earning high scores and placing in these divisions at competitions in Wilsonville and West Albany during November. In addition, four team members, Ellen Reece, Rachal Wilhite, Dani Bezley, and Sarah Dumanovsky, qualified to compete for individual honors in the drill down competition at the championships. The Olyannes placed first in Novelty, third in Pom and third in Contemporary styles of dance. In addition, sophomore Dani Bezley and junior, Rachal Wilhite won individual awards as two of the Top 10 in advanced drill down. Congratulations to all of the Olyannes for outstanding performances!

(10/30) Congratulations JV football for an outstanding season. The Olys took care of the McKay Royal Scots at home last night 55-18. The Olys were once again lead by a balanced attack of Austin Brown touchdown strikes and tough running by Dakotah Halfman, Cody Bell and Andrew Weaver. Defense was spectacular once again and held McKay the majority of the night. The win gives the JV squad a perfect 9-0 season, the first since 2002. Congratulations Congratulations to the Freshman Football Team who ended an undefeated CVC season with a 63-14 win last night at McKay. In a total team effort, outstanding performances were recorded by the Oly Defense, led by hard hits of Carter James, Austin Kleinman and Tanner Sorensen, which led to several interceptions—2 by Nick Brotton, 1 by Carter James, 1 by Evan Spragg, 1 by Will Rawlings and an interception for a TD by Levi Langley. The Defense also blocked a punt setting up another score. The Offense was led by Justin Culpepper at QB, and the strong line play of Bryce Perkins, Alex Matot, Spencer Nofziger, Tristan Friederick, Dylan Smith, Brendan Hassler, Joel Sussee, and Kyle Rosenau. Scoring runs came from Nick Brotton, Carter James, Dane McKinney, Austin Kleinman and Tanner Sorensen. Great Job Olys! Team Meeting in the Varsity Locker room at 2:30 today with all of your gear. Also, a Reminder to all Freshman Football Players that we will be having our Awards Ceremony at 5:30 PM in the Library on Wednesday 10/30. The Sprague girls water polo team defeated West Salem 6-5 in overtime Thursday night to remain undefeated in conference play. The JV team looks to finish off a perfect undefeated season next Thursday at home against the McKay Royal Scots. The Olys posted their second straight shutout of a league opponent behind a strong defensive effort. The Defensive team of Defensive Line-Austin Kleinman, Levi Langley, Brendan Hassler & Spencer Nofziger; Defensive Linebackers-Justin Culpepper, Nate Rediger, Tanner Sorensen & Ethan Reyes; & Defensive Backs of Cody Vestal, Justin Hubbard, Trenton Evans and Nick Brotton--shut down the Vikings offense and had a great defensive stand the only time they were threatened, stopping the Vikings from scoring with 1st and Goal from the 1.Trevor Hubbard and Tristan Stoddard both recorded interceptions to help the Defense and hard hits were recorded by Trenton Evans, Justin Culpepper, Levi Langley and Carter James. Offensively, the Olys were led by Justin Culpepper who threw several TD passes---to Carter James and Nick Brotton. Hard runs were recorded by Dane McKinney, Austin Kleinman, Tanner Sorensen and Carter James. If you are interested you must bring a check for $20.00 to the Salem Keizer District Office located at 2450 Lancaster Drive NE. by 10:00am on Friday October 18th. This week is Spirit Week, so get ready to dress up and have fun during our Spirit Days! Today will be Retro Day, and Thursday will be Oly Nation Day/Toga Day. Get into the Fall Oly Spirit by dressing up and having a blast during Spirit Week! Juniors and seniors! College Visits are going on NOW! George Fox University will be here today at 9:00 and Linfield College will be here tomorrow at 11:45. If you are interested in learning more about any of these universities, please sign up in the Business Office today! Students can now sign up for the PSAT. Any junior interested in taking the PSAT needs to bring $14.00 to the bookkeeper. The PSAT is a great assessment that will predict how you will do on the SAT. It’s also great to use as a study guide to prepare for the SAT because you get your actual test booklet back with your answers! Remember the test is on October 16th. It is a full school day for all students. DECA Members, get your sign up sheets and dues in to Ms. Pollard in Room 142. These need to be paid before our first official chapter meeting tomorrow so we can order club t-shirts! Don't forget your canned food items as well. (10/8) Attention Olys! This Friday, October 11th, we will be having our annual homecoming dance from 8:30 to 10:30! The dance will be held in the commons. Tickets are $10 for a single, and $18 for a couple. The theme this year is “Broadway.” So find a date or grab some friends and come spend a night under the lights on Broadway! October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and as such, Sprague is supporting the Susan G. Komann foundation to raise money for breast cancer research by selling breast cancer awareness t-shirts! Furthermore, our homecoming game against McNary is going to be a black and pink out to show our support for the cause, so buy your shirts now and show your Oly spirit at homecoming! Congrats to our girl’s soccer team who downed McKay 5-1 Maddy Brown had a hat trick for the Olys with Esther Young and Kinsey Funk adding one goal as well.
