October 17th is College and Career Readiness Day at Sprague.

All sophomores will take the PSAT that day at no cost.

Juniors may take the PSAT for $14. Bring checks to the bookkeeper, made payable to Sprague High School, as soon as possible. Deadline is Oct. 11th. Juniors who do not take the PSAT will take the ASVAB that morning.

Freshmen and seniors will have college and career activities planned as well.

All testing and activities will end by 11:00am. A seven period modified schedule will follow after lunch.

Here are 4 good reasons to take the PSAT:

1. The College Board SAT 2010 report shows that students who took the PSAT in their sophomore and

Junior academic years scored significantly higher on the SAT than those who did not.

2. Some students encounter test anxiety in high-stress testing situations. Taking the PSAT gives you the opportunity to familiarize yourself with the test-taking environment so that you are better prepared for the actual SAT exam.

3. Compare your test results with other students from all over the country.

4. Qualify for National Merit Scholarships and other awards.

The word for the week is Ideology. It is a noun meaning a system of social or political ideas. My mother's religious ideology was inspired by the Hindu faith.
