ATTENTION: ALL students going to Hoover Elementary need to be in the commons NOW! Thank you to everyone who donated. Leadership and Hoover students appreciate Sprague’s generosity. (12/17)


Thank you to everyone who contributed canned food items for the DECA canned food drive. We raised over 350 items. The winner of the donut party is Mr. Merrell's class with a total of 70 cans. Great job! (12/17)

Congratultions to the Olys wrestlers for finishing 3rd at the Larry Owings tournament this past weekend! The Olys were lead by Kaleb Raber who won his second tournament in a row. Kaleb remains undefeated on the season! The Olys defeated Roseburg, McMinville and Tigard on their way to a 3rd place finished. Dragen Bennett, Steve Williams, Yasif Sorensen, and Erik Guerrero all finished 2nd! Jake Vaughn and Cliff Baxter finished 3rd. The Olys had a total of 11 wrestlers placing at the tournament. (12/17)

Congratulations to the Oly Wrestlers for finishing 4th out of 16 teams at the tough Perry Burlison Tournament this past weekend. The Olys were lead by senior Caleb Raber who won his weight class and remains undefeated for the year. Other placers for Sprague were Jared Hampl - 5th, Tony Swanson - 5th, Eric Gurerro - 4th,Zach Zehner - 5th, Jake Vaughn - 3rd, Collin Griffin - 3rd, Yasif Sorensen - 2nd, and Cliff Baxter also finished 2nd. And congratulations to the JV team who brought home the 1st place trophy! (12/10)

The Sprague wrestlers lost to the Newberg 40 to 39 last night in front of a packed house in Newberg. Despite forfeiting 3 matches Sprague almost pulled off an upset over a strong Newberg team. The match of the night was when Sprague's Jake Vaughn upset Newberg's returning state champion in the 3rd round! Other great performances came from Caleb Raber, Collin Griffin, Cliff Baxter, and Zach Zehner who all pinned there opponents in the first round. Good luck to the Olys as they travel to Cascade this Saturday for their first tournament of the year! (12/7)

Congratulations to the Olys who participated in the State Cross Country meet last Saturday. Jenna Gross showed that she is one of the best distance runners in the state. Nathaniel Roberts and Jacob Atkinson again were the best runners from the CVC district. Great job to all.

Our Volleyball team downed Sunset last night in four games. With the victory, our Olys will host Century on Saturday in the second round of the state playoffs. Time will be announced later today. Congrats on the win ladies.



Our girl’s soccer team will begin the state playoffs on Saturday as well. Their first round matchup is at Sunset High School at 2 p.m.



Finally, Jenna Gross, Nathaniel Roberts and Jacob Atkinson will represent Sprague at the OSAA State Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Lane Community College. The races for these three runners are at 2:25 and 3 p.m. Good Luck to all athletes and teams this Saturday.

Nathaniel Roberts out ran all of the other boys and won the District Championship. Jacob Atkinson placed second over all. They both qualified for the state meet. Jenna Gross placed 6th in the varsity girl’s race and qualified for the state meet.

On a wet and muddy course we had 12 athletes who ran new all time personal bests. And we had another six who ran season’s bests. Great job Oly! (10/25)

The Sprague Boys and Girls Cross Country teams competed against McNary last Thursday. Nathaniel Roberts and Jacob Atkinson placed first and second in the boys race. They raced the two fastest 3,000 meters races in Sprague history. Jenna Gross and Ally Ridling led the Sprague girls. Out of 29 runners, the team had 28 who set new personal bests. Our District meet will be Wednesday afternoon at Bush Park. (10/23)

The Colleges that are coming to visit Sprague this week are:  Linfield College on Monday, Willamette University and Western Oregon University on Thursday.  If you would like to visit with any of these colleges, please sign up in the college visit notebook in the Business Office.

The Sprague Cross Country team participated in the Harrier Classic meet last Saturday.  
Jenna Gross outran more than 120 competitors to win the Freshman-Sophomore Girls’ race. This is her second victory in a row. Ally Ridling, Emma Tornberg and Sierra Savage earned medalist honors. The Sprague girls placed second out of 32 teams entered.  Jacob Atkinson and Nathaniel Roberts led the boys. They placed 7th and 9th over all in the varsity race to earn medalist honors. The Sprague Varsity boys placed 15th out of 32 teams. AND they outscored South Salem, McNary, McKay and West Salem at the meet.  All in all, we had 16 runners set new all time personal bests and eight more who set new season’s bests.  Also, a special congratulations to Nolan Armstrong who ran the Portland Marathon in 4 hours and 30 minutes yesterday.

Do you enjoy yelling at sporting events? Think you have rhythm? Are you proud to be an Olympian? Sounds like cheerleading is for you! Tryouts for basketball season will be held next Tuesday through Thursday Oct. 9-11th from 3-5pm. All Sprague students in good academic standing are welcome to try out. Attendance at all three dates is mandatory. If you are interested, please pick up an information packet at the office. You will need to fill out the forms and bring them with you to the tryout. Come out and support the football, cheer, marching band, and color guard today! There will be a pep rally after school in the commons followed later by the game at 7 pm. We are facing our rivals, the South Salem Saxons, and need all of your support. Wear a Sprague shirt or orange tonight to show your school spirit. Hope to see everyone there at the pep rally and game! (10/5)

Junior class is raising money for prom by collecting old and gently used prom dresses. Clean out your closet and donate! We will be accepting formal dresses until Oct. 12th and will begin to sell the dresses starting October 8. Please drop off the dresses to room 161 or see Mrs. Bucholz or Taylor Blum. (10/5)

All Senior Yearbook pictures are due Nov. 11th. Please email all photos to spragueyb@gmail.com. Anything submitted after this day will result in a $25 late fee.

October 17th is College and Career Readiness Day at Sprague.
