Sprague Wrestlers finished 3rd in the 17 team tournament in Cascade this past weekend. Great overall performance by the Olys! Kaleb Raber and Brandon Griffin won their individual weight classes. Alex Funk and Maxx Hollis finished 2nd. Freshman Levi Long won the JV tournament! Brandon was voted the outstanding wrestler of the tournament. Great job Olys!!(12/12)

Today is the 70th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, Six months after Pearl Harbor, the West Virginia was raised. Richard Fiske was one of the men who opened the last hatch of the ship. The light of his lantern revealed the bodies of three dead sailors. The calendar revealed that they have survived trapped and alone for seventeen days after the attack. The experience of finding the bodies was devastating. No one was really the same again, said Fiske. Students, today on this 70th anniversary, remember those who died for freedom on this day that will live in infamy.

The Sprague Olyanne dance team qualified for the fall state championships with their second place finish in the Novelty category at the Santiam Dance team competition on Saturday, December 3rd. The dance team will compete in the championships at Reynolds high school on Saturday, December 10th. In addition, team members Rachal Wilhite and Kelsey Maggi qualified to compete as individuals in the drill down competition at the fall championships. Congratulations to all of the Olyannes! (12/6)

Tomorrow we remember the 70th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, December 7th.
Over 2,402 Americans were killed, 1,177 on the Arizona alone. The attack was a surprise, and as a result America entered World War II. Over 450,000 Americans lost their lives in this War. Seventeen Oregonians died in the attack on Pearl Harbor. (12/6)

Person of the week is a randomly selected student that has his or her picture taken, a few questions asked about their interests, and he or she receives a free drink from the Oly Lounge. The person of the week will be displayed on the TVs in the commons and in front of the office. A new person is chosen at random every week. So cross your fingers! (11/18)

Operation Santa is underway. Please bring in gifts for our troops in Afghanistan for Christmas this year! Needed items include Chap Stick, beef jerky, men's boot socks and hand-warmers. There is a box in front of the Library for the items. Give our troops a morale boost this holiday season. (11/18)

The Sprague Play- ALMOST MAINE runs tonight and Saturday --- This is a story of love lost, found, given, broken and healed. Come one and all to this heartwarming tale.

Play glow-in-the-dark capture the flag for Doernbecher, a fundraiser that involves your favorite recess game, LOTS of glow paint, and supporting a good cause! This tournament will take place Saturday, November 19th at 7 pm in Sally Casebeer's backyard. Look up the event page on facebook for additional information about location and contact one of the captains listed on the page to join a team. The price will be $6 per person and all proceeds go directly to Doernbecher Children's Hospital. If you cannot view this information via facebook, please contact Lindsay McWilliams or Sally Casebeer. Oly Nation, what an amazing volleyball match on Saturday night as your lady volleyballers defeated Century in a 5th set overtime match to advance to the OSAA State Championship Tournament this coming Friday at Liberty High School in Hillsboro! Oly Nation showed up loud, proud and stronger than ever on Saturday night and helped inspire the girls to their 5th set victory over the Jaguars! Congratulations to Sprague's Speech and Debate team for their great work last weekend at Whitman University Debate Invitational. Sprague speakers competed against students from 50 high schools from 4 states. The following students earned individual awards. Miranda Crowell placed 2nd and Olivia Wall placed 1st in junior division congressional debate. And Brooke Mischkot and Quentin Michael placed 1st in open division Public Forum debate, not only earning a tournament championship but also earning a bid to Kentucky University's Tournament of Champions. The first ASL Club had a great turnout with twelve students showing up. We would like to congratulate our new club president, Taya Bob; our two new vice presidents, Jordyn Greene and Becca Johnston; and our new club secretary, Holly Wright. We decided to have our meetings every week, on Tuesdays in room 119 (the ASL classroom). So if you couldn't make it yesterday, then be sure to show up next Tuesday, November 1st. If you have any questions, ask Ms. Hatfield or any of the new club officers. We'll see you next Tuesday! (10/27)

On Wednesday the boys and girls cross country teams participated in the District meet.
The boys placed third and narrowly missed qualifying for the state meet as a team. The boys had their best performance in the past eight years. The girl’s team, which included four freshmen, placed sixth. The freshmen girls included three of the top ten all time best freshmen runners for Sprague.
The team yesterday recorded 25 new all time personal bests out of 34 runners.
Jacob Atkinson was a first team all district runner. Nathaniel Roberts was a second team runner.

The next meet is the State Meet on November 5. Jacob Atkinson qualified as an individual runner for a second year in a row. (10/27)

Congratulations to the Sprague Freshman football team for their come from behind victory last night at McNary - 22-14. Great overall team performances! The Olys are now 4 and 0 in league! Great job Olys and good luck to the Varsity team tonight!

Sprague's first American Sign Language Club meeting this year will be held on Tuesday, October 25th, in the library from 2:30 - 3:00. You do not need to be in ASL to participate! Homecoming tickets are available for 10 dollars from Mrs. Bucholz in room 161 during lunch. Buy them early and skip the long line the night of the dance. The dance is Saturday from 8:30 to 11, and doors close at 9:30. If you arrive after 9:30 pm you may not be able to attend the dance. (10-21)

Children's Educational Theatre is looking to hire seven high school aged teaching assistants for their upcoming summer program. Qualified applicants must have completed their sophomore year of high school, have a passion for the arts and should enjoy working with elementary and middle school students. Positions are paid and all applicants must be available to work June 25-July 28. Applications are now available and must be submitted by Monday Oct 31st. Congratulations to the following Sprague Speech and Debate team members on their outstanding performances at last Saturday's Silverton Novice Tournament. Blake Gesik placed 3rd in radio commentary and Bradley Sands placed first in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, also taking second place in overall speaking points. Way to go Oly Speechies! (10/19)
