Congratulations to the freshman football team finishing their season with a record of 6 and 3 with a convincing win last night over the Titans of West Salem 51 to 34. Outstanding performances by Quarterback Caleb Burris and Offensive lineman Coleman Crocker.

The JV Football team capped off a great year with a 28-24 win over rival West Salem last night. Quarterback Jon Schuab led the Olys with 2 touchdown passes and 1 touchdown run. Nick Moran caught a 60 yard touchdown pass and ran for another 25 yard score. John Marshall caught the winning touchdown late in the game. None of it could have been done without a dominating performance by the Offensive Line and tough defense throughout the game. With the win, the Olys are the 2010 Central Valley Conference Champions! Great job Olys! (10/29)

On Tuesday November 2nd, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist for the New York Times, David Rohde, will share his story of being kidnapped and held by the Taliban for seven months. Winter Sports Sign-ups start Monday! Students interested in wrestling, swimming, or playing basketball can pick up forms and get information in the Athletics Office.

The Sprague Cross Country team placed fourth in the CVC Championships on Wednesday at Bush Park. Alyssia Kuenzi, Jacob Atkinson, and Nathaniel Roberts qualified to run in the State Meet. Jacob Atkinson was chosen for the first team All-CVC. Nathaniel Roberts set a new Sprague Cross Country record for freshmen. Aden Petersen won the JV Boys race. Eighteen out of twenty-five participants recorded new best times.GREAT JOB, OLYS! And a big thanks to Mr. Risen for helping at the meet. Congratulations to all.

Next June the ASL students will again head to Washington, DC, and then visit Gallaudet University, the world's only deaf university! For 6 days we will explore our nation's capitol, and then go down to Williamsburg and Jamestown, Virginia, where the towns are recreated to look as they looked in the 17-and 1800's. This is a trip you will NOT want to miss!
For more information, please come to Ms. Hatfield's room, #119. She has a full itinerary and enrollment information. Remember: asking your parents about the trip is the only way you'll get to go on the trip! (10/21)

The Sprague Boys and Girls Cross Country teams defeated McNary in their dual meet on Monday. The boys were led by Justus Mac George and Jacob Atkinson who placed first and second overall. The girls were led by Rachael Nelson, Hannah Kuizenga and Ashleigh Davis who placed 1, 2, 3 in their race. (10/19)

Seven public four-year colleges and universities and Chemeketa Community College will have admissions personnel here to visit with our juniors and those seniors. In order to attend the event, which begins at 9:23am, students must have a permission slip signed by their second period teacher. The general sessions will run from 9:23 to 9:55am. Session 1 will run from 10:00 to 10:25 a.m. and Session 2 from 10:30 to 10:56 a.m. You can pick-up the forms in the CRIC this week. (10/14)

Wednesday, October 13th will be a different schedule at Sprague. All sophomores will take the PSAT that day, juniors will take either the PSAT or ASVAB, freshmen will work on their Personal Education Plan, and seniors will meet with Jostens and also have the opportunity to work on the CRLS paper. Testing will end at approximately 11:30 Am., busses will take students home beginning at 12:30pm.
The PSAT is an excellent tool to measure a student’s readiness for the SAT. The state of Oregon pays for all sophomores to take the test. Juniors must pay an $18 test fee to take the test. Freshmen can also take the PSAT; they must also pay the $18 test fee.
Please bring your money to the bookkeeper. The last day to register will be Thursday, October, 7th.
Official student guides to the PSAT are available in the CRIC. Show your student ID if you are a sophomore, show your receipt otherwise. (10/7)

Attention all National Honor Society members: The Kuebler Street Clean up scheduled for this Friday has been postponed. We will have to reschedule it at our meeting Tuesday morning at 7:10 in room 146. (10/7)

Wednesday, October 13th will be a different schedule at Sprague. All sophomores will take the PSAT that day, juniors will take either the PSAT or ASVAB, freshmen will work on their Personal Education Plan, and seniors will meet with Jostens and also have the opportunity to work on the CRLS paper. Testing will end at approximately 11:30 Am., busses will take students home beginning at 12:30pm.
The PSAT is an excellent tool to measure a student’s readiness for the SAT. The state of Oregon pays for all sophomores to take the test. Juniors must pay an $18 test fee to take the test. Freshmen can also take the PSAT; they must also pay the $18 test fee.
Please bring your money to the bookkeeper. The last day to register will be Thursday, October, 7th.
Official student guides to the PSAT are available in the CRIC. Show your student ID if you are a sophomore, show your receipt otherwise. (10/7)

Fight For Frida Volleyball Game, Tuesday October 12th @7pm. There is a raffle for an IPAD at the game! You do not need to be present to win. Volleyball girls are selling tickets at both lunches everyday through Tuesday! The raffle tickets sell for $1=1 ticket, $5, = 8 tickets, $10. = 15 tickets and $20. = 30 tickets (10/12)

ALL JUNIOR CLASS MEETING on Monday, October 11th at both lunches in 132. We will discuss our homecoming float, class t-shirt design, and homecoming events. Right now we are leading in Spirit points and we want to win the big spirit prize at the end of the year. GO JUNIORS!!!! Congratulations to the freshman football team with their 48 - 20 win over the Saxons last night at home. The Olys freshman extends their season record to 5 and 1. Great job Olys!! (10/7)

A representative from Pacific University will be at Sprague High School on Monday, October 11, at 11:00 am in the CRIC, to visit with interested students. Pacific UN is a private frontier institution in liberal arts and sciences and innovative in it’s rapidly changing health-care professions. The university is located in Forest Grove, about 35 miles northwest of Salem. Sign up in the CRIC. (10/11)

All Sophomores will take the PSAT that day, Juniors will take either the PSAT or ASVAB, Freshmen will work on their Personal Education Plan, and Seniors will meet with Jostens and also have the opportunity to work on the CRLS paper. Testing will end at approximately 11:30am., busses will take students home beginning at 12:30pm.
The PSAT is an excellent tool to measure a student’s readiness for the SAT. After the test is scored, the results are returned to the student along with their actual test manual. No other national test provides this kind of feedback. The state of Oregon pays for all Sophomores to take the test. Juniors must pay an $18 test fee to take the test. A representative from UN of Puget Sound will be at Sprague on Tuesday, October 5, at 7:50 am in the Oly Forum to visit with interested students. Puget Sound is a small campus of 97 acres, 2, 564 undergraduate students, but located in a large city of Tacoma, Washington. Sign up in the CRIC. (10/5)
